The Pierres Pointes black run in the Glacier 3000 ski area is legendary – and is being revitalized for the winter season.

Thanks to a 265-meter tunnel, a new run with a 1,000-meter vertical drop will connect the mid-station of Cabane with the Col du Pillon mountain pass.

For Glacier 3000, the future of skiing depends on its long runs. This project is another step in the development of the sport, following the opening of the Red Run in 2018, with its eight kilometers and 1,700 meters of altitude.

As with the Red Run, instead of building a new cable car, the existing infrastructure will be optimized.

„This new run will be one of the steepest in the world. With a passage through a tunnel and a start with a 41-degree drop (87 percent), it will be a challenge that any experienced skier will want to add to their list of achievements,“ enthuses Bernhard Tschannen, CEO of Glacier 3000.

The new three-kilometer run will also significantly improve the quality of the skiing experience at Glacier 3000, as it will be possible in the future to reach the starting point of the lifts with skis strapped on, something that was not previously feasible.

One will thus be able to ski down the mountain in one piece from 3,000 meters to 1,500 meters.
