Cable car plans are being spun by the FDP party between Lübeck and Travemünde. This is reported by Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and the online portal HL-Life in agreement.

The planned cable car route across the Trave should become part of the public transport system – i.e. it should be possible to use it at the normal tariff. A cable car could connect the beach station in Travemünde with Priwall and thus be a sensible addition to public transport.

The advantage is that it does not take up much space and hovers high enough not to disturb shipping traffic. It is also inexpensive to build. A cableway would also have advantages for the tourism sector.

Improving the accessibility of the Priwall peninsula

According to the Liberal Party, the peninsula is still poorly accessible, partly because ferries repeatedly break down. Therefore, the party proposes an economic examination of the project.

In Germany, several cableway plans are currently under discussion: For example, the Rhine Pendel for Cologne or a cable car for Kelheim. Feasibility studies are already underway to examine a possible cableway connection.
