Doppelmayr USA announces leadership transition
Katharina Schmitz, who joined Doppelmayr USA in 2018 and became CEO in April 2020, led the company through significant growth, especially as the ski industry rebounded after the pandemic.
Ms. Schmitz successfully navigated this period of rapid expansion, overseeing a record number of completed projects, including several premium D-Line ropeways, setting new standards in guest experience with superior comfort, safety, and cutting-edge technology.
“It has been an incredible honor to lead Doppelmayr USA during such a dynamic period,” said Ms. Schmitz. “I am immensely proud of our team’s achievements and the positive impact our projects have on communities and resorts nationwide. I am confident the company’s strong foundation will support continued success and innovation.”
Keith Johns will assume the CEO role on April 1, 2025. Since joining Doppelmayr USA in 2021, Mr. Johns has proven himself as a dedicated leader and key contributor. His impressive background includes executive leadership, strategic project management, and the ability to unite teams across disciplines to achieve ambitious goals.
Prior to joining Doppelmayr USA, Mr. Johns honed his leadership skills across various engineering, construction, and project management roles. As acting CEO at an energy technology company, he oversaw strategic direction and complex operational initiatives. His expertise in stakeholder relations, process improvement, and technical problem-solving will serve Doppelmayr well in this next chapter.

New state-of-the-art headquarter
Reflecting on recent years, Doppelmayr USA has accomplished several consecutive record-setting construction seasons with iconic projects like the Big Sky Lone Peak Tram, the Sterling Vineyards triangular D-Line, and the Deer Valley Expansion.
The company has also laid the groundwork for the future with plans for a new state-of-the-art headquarters, set to break ground this spring. This facility will bring together advanced production capabilities, modern warehouse spaces, and innovative office designs to create a truly world-class work environment.
