The German Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and Transport Volker Wissing is patron of the next Cable Car World. The international mobility fair on urban cable cars with accompanying congress will take place for the second time at Messe Essen from 4 to 5 June 2024. The focus of Cable Car World is on local public transport on the plus-one level.

From July 4th to 6th, 2023, the technical operations managers of cable car installations from Germany and Luxembourg gathered in Baden-Baden for their annual conference. This year, the Baden-Baden Municipal Utilities invited the VDV meeting of the "Standseil-/Bergbahnen" working group. The highlight of the event was the visit to the upgraded Merkur Mountain Railway.

The idea of an urban cable car for Amsterdam is not new and has been driven by a private initiative for several years. A feasibility study is still underway, but preliminary results indicate that implementation and operation could be possible by 2027. However, a final decision on the project has yet to be made.

"Mobility is in the air!" - How can cities, local communities and districts successfully plan and shape the necessary mobility turnaround in a timely manner, e.g. with ropeways? These and other questions were addressed at the VRN Cable Car Day on the grounds of the Federal Horticultural Show in Mannheim.

How can we encourage people to use public transportation? It requires a reliable and comfortable offering! The new urban cable car in Paris combines both. Now, the cabins by Île-de-France Mobilités have been unveiled, optimized to meet the needs of public transportation passengers.

Mexico City's Cablebús system has two lines, and a third is currently under construction. Now the Mexican state of Michoacán sees the Cablebús system as a model and is planning a similar ropeway system.
