SI World 1/2020, Snowmaking & Slope Maintenance
AN INTERVIEW WITH ROMAIN HAZUCKA: “WE SAVE A LOT OF TIME WITH SNOWSAT“
SI: Mr. Hazucka, how do you use SNOWsat ToDo in your ski resort?
Romain Hazucka: We use SNOWsat ToDo in all piste vehicles in Courchevel. As we work in two-shift operation, the solution helps us with arranging the piste preparation and planning all tasks for both shifts.
How does SNOWsat ToDo help you with coordinating tasks?
The piste manager creates the plan for piste preparation. With SNOWsat ToDo, he assigns specific tasks to each driver. The driver then sees these on the vehicle display and can process them directly on the piste. In addition, he can add notes or information for the next shift or the next day. Before the shift begins, the team leader of the second shift can see what has been done and which tasks are still outstanding.
He can therefore quickly adapt the preparation plan. Another advantage: with SNOWsat ToDo, we can input tasks on the computer – even if the piste vehicles have already left for the ski resort. Thanks to SNOWsat ToDo, timeconsuming documentation and coordination, which previously took place in the form of logs, are now fully digitalised. This makes communication quick, efficient and error-free.
To what extent has the creation of the daily preparation plan changed with SNOWsat ToDo?
The creation of individual preparation plans has great advantages for us. Every evening, we adapt our planning to the weather conditions and the work during the previous night. With SNOWsat ToDo, we can merge the preparation plans with the snow depth maps of the previous three days. This enables us to see daily changes on and by the piste. Using SNOWsat ToDo, we can adapt the tasks and plans to the requirements. Piste preparation is therefore even more efficient and resource-friendly.
What is your conclusion on SNOWsat ToDo?
We save a lot of time with SNOWsat ToDo. The solution improves communication across departments. The piste manager, team leaders and drivers are always aware of the current status from the last shift and know what needs to be done. In the past, we had to produce printed documents and handwritten notes. With SNOWsat ToDo, we can now input, process and manage up to 140 tasksevery evening.
The digital solution provides great convenience, reliability and efficiency. The drivers are highly appreciative of this new way of working; in combination with the information from SNOWsat ToDo, they can use their specialist knowledge and experience even more efficiently.
