Doppelmayr/Garaventa: Let´s go – Reiteralm
On 10th June, after an intensive planning phase and advance preparation period, the Schoberbahn project received the green light in the construction negotiations. Since then, the hard work on implementation and construction of the modern 6-seater chairlift has been ongoing and it should be ready to transport visitors as early as this winter season.
The chosen cable car type is a state-of-the-art D-Line from DOPPELMAYR; Managing Director Daniel Berchthaller reports why: “Customer comfort is a major concern for us, which is why we deliberately wanted to use the latest techniques/ technology.
In choosing DOPPELMAYR, it was therefore clear to us that we wanted the D-Line design for our new Schoberbahn. The extra seating comfort on the 6-seater chairs, the convenient and above all quiet drive, and the easy operation and maintenance of the installation were very important to us.
The modern design was also decisive for us. In summary, the new D-Line from DOPPELMAYR was simply the best match for our needs.”

Versatile strategy
The travel time of the new DOPPELMAYR 6-seater chairlift is roughly 3 – 4 minutes and the transport capacity will be 2,400 people/hour. Capacity on this installation is therefore doubled, which is advantageous for two reasons.
“For one thing, we can achieve transfers within the ski resort, from the western part to the eastern part, and therefore further reduce waiting times. The optimal altitude of the track was also a significant consideration, with the bottom station at 1,584 m and the summit station at 1,810 m, enabling us to guarantee the best piste conditions from the early season until after Easter.
The associated new piste can also be sited in the landscape with a wonderful slope and is therefore classified as easy (blue piste), making it ideal for the many children and novices in our resort.
Good and advanced skiers, however, will also be able to have a lot of fun with the beautiful wide piste and can perfect their carving turns there. In summary, the new Schoberbahn simply contributes to a huge improvement in quality for us at Reiteralm and we are therefore looking forward to seeing many satisfied guests
on the new Schoberbahn from the new 2020/21 winter season,” Berchthaller says.

Not all new beginnings are difficult
Even at the start of the project, the response was consistently positive from all sides. Locals and property owners as well as guests are looking forward to the
new DOPPELMAYR chairlift. “In particular, the additional benefit for our ski guests in the winter is something that everyone can see.
Right from the outset, there was a very positive feel about the project and everyone could immediately see the sense in it,” Berchthaller and the Reiteralm team are pleased to report.
