Mountain Planet: Innovation & ideas for the mountain world of the future
This international event brings together every two years in the middle of the French 23,000 professionals from over 70 countries. Numerous exhibitors and brands present technical innovations related to the mountain industry. It serves as an exchange platform for professionals in the sector for the summer as well as the winter season. Already in the run-up to the event, three innovations will be presented to the mountain world. These are intended to be a sign of a safe and sustainable mountain world in the future.
After two years of innovation, the French company IDM has developed a process that converts ski lift mast bearing rings into anti-slip rubber mats. Each year, 80 tons of bearing rings will be recycled and transformed into 6,000 square meters of non-slip and recyclable sheets of rubber. This process makes the company the first of the three pioneers.
Developed jointly by Météo France and engineering firm Dianeige, Climsnow is an application that provides tangible information to mountain regions concerned about the evolution of natural and artificial snow cover. Climsnow can design different climate scenarios and makes it possible to quantify the reliability of snowmaking at different points in time.
The third thought leader to be featured by MOUNTAIN PLANET is API-K. The company has developed a high-precision technological beacon with localization tools and services that use innovative geo-security and real-time tracking technology that allows
a person can be precisely located anywhere in mountainous areas. This technology is also efficient in so-called “white spots”, areas not covered by GSM networks. KI-P is suitable for mountain professionals (rescue services, lift companies in ski areas, skiers, ski schools, lone workers) and fans of numerous outdoor sports: Ski touring, downhill skiing, trail running, hiking, mountain biking, hiking sports (cycling, walking, etc.).
MOUNTAIN PLANET will be held this year from April 26 to 28, 2022 at the Alpexpo exhibition center in Grenoble, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Under the slogan “Tomorrow’s innovations today”, exhibitors will present their products, services or technologies for a sustainable and safe mountain environment.
