DOPPELMAYR: Snow Space Salzburg flying Mozart
The Austrian ski resort Snow Space Salzburg is setting new benchmarks with its new Flying Mozart gondola lift.
The two-section installation impresses with new technology, a host of functions for information and communications technology in the cabins and exceptional architecture that is reminiscent of the eponymous composer and musician.
Underground middle station
The centerpiece of the installation is the middle station, which lies 25 meters below ground at its deepest point and seamlessly blends into the landscape.
It also provides barrier-free access to the G-Link Wagrain, an aerial tramway that connects mountains Grießenkareck and Grafenberg.
This is now one of the most important hubs in the entire ski region. Another stand-out feature of the Flying Mozart is also visible in the mid station. Here, the RGB lighting in the ceiling indicates whether each cabin is already occupied by lighting up in red or green.
Monitors in the station enable passengers to identify occupancy at an early stage, making it easier and faster for them to pick a free cabin. The ropeway operatives can also see the occupancy on screens in the control room.
Relaxing trip through Snow Space Salzburg
The OMEGA V cabins are equipped with many functions and are directly connected to the ropeway control system Doppelmayr Connect.
Each cabin is fitted with a high-end sound system.
The location-dependent announcements are spoken by no less than Austrian ski legend and twice Olympic gold medalist Hermann Maier. An intercom system is provided for direct communication with the passengers. There is also a CCTV camera in the ceiling to assist passenger communication when necessary.
In addition, all the cabins have a temperature sensor inside and a gyrosensor that monitors wind-induced swing movement.
This enables the ropeway crew to respond rapidly to environmental conditions.
Passenger safety and ride comfort are taken to a whole new level as a result. The Doppelmayr Direct Drive installed in the top station provides top performance as well as low maintenance and noise.
Furthermore, for the first time worldwide, the gearless drive system on the Flying Mozart has been designed with four rings.
A work of art with light and music
The Flying Mozart impresses with very special cabins. In its two so-called Mozart cabins, a tablet is used to control the lighting mood. The music can also be selected to suit individual choice.
Both the interior and exterior of these cabins are styled after the composer who inspired the name of the gondola – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who would have taken a liking to the exceptional interior design.
A special highlight inside these cabins is a selfie box containing a camera which is activated by simply holding your lift card up to a scanner. Another two cabins offer the fascination of a glass floor.
Live cameras transmit images direct to a screen underneath the glass floor.
