Dopplmayr: World Record in the Carribbean
The D-Line gondola lift will measure 6.6 kilometres – and therefore set a new world record. The concept for the megaproject originates from INPUT Projektenwicklungs GmbH.
It will facilitate access to the Boiling Lake in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, for day-trippers to enjoy the world cultural heritage and the thermal spring. The journey over the tropical rainforest will take just 20 minutes and guests will then be able to reach the Boiling Lake within a few minutes from the summit station.
The top station will include many leisure opportunities. From here, there is also an impressive view of the surrounding area.
Dominica pursues a policy of sustainable tourism on the island, to protect the country’s natural resources as well as its nature and culture whilst establishing economic and social opportunities.
The goal is to enrichen the life of its citizens by creating new jobs, not only in the implementation phase of the project, but also when the facilities inlcuding the cable car go into operation in early 2024.
The DOPPELMAYR ropeway will be providing environmentally friendly mobility to the area. Shopping and hospitality amenities will be incorporated in the bottom station and these will focus in particular on the island’s distinctive local features.
The area around the top station will include a restaurant with panorama terrace, a viewing platform and, as a highlight standing at the highest point, a six-meter statue of the national bird of Dominica known as the “sisserou” or imperial amazon.
A pathway leading from the top station will enable visitors to walk to the impressive Boiling Lake, the world’s second-largest hot spring, in a matter of minutes.
