Management & Tourism
The Expo Andes is back
More than 5,000 visitors and over 100 exhibitors from more than 20 countries are expected in an area of over 4,000 square metres at this year’s EXPO ANDES in Santiago de Chile.
Being the only trade fair in South America to focus on tourism in the mountains makes it the continent‘s most important meeting point for the cable car industry.
Exhibitors from all over the world will travel to Chile to present their products and services to the industry here.
Metropolitan
This year‘s EXPO ANDES is being held at the Metropolitan, Santiago‘s convention & event centre. Its 4,700 square metres offer plenty of space for the visitors. Photo: GL Events Chile.
The trade fair, which is actually held every two years, was postponed by a further year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Yet the event is now ready to get started, to share expertise, innovation and experience from all over the world and to compare methods to expand mountain and ski tourism.
With a territory comprising 63 percent mountains, Chile accordingly wants to expand in this area and to make better use of its geographical situation.
Chilean tourism, which already has over a million ski tourists per year, should therefore experience long-term, sustainable promotion and become a prime example for the rest of the world.
Development
In 2019 there were 80 exhibitors at EXPO ANDES; this year there will be 100.

At the same time, Chile hopes to demonstrate its expertise in the various economic sectors, such as mining and the military.
Of Chile’s planned mining projects for the period from 2018 to 2028, 50 percent are planned in the mountains. Naturally, particular attention will be paid to the handling of challenges at high altitudes.
These include the construction of water pipelines in the country‘s high mountains, the protection and clearance of roads, avalanche protection, cable car transport and more.
All of these are factors that the stakeholders must take into account, whether ski resorts, mountain communities or mining companies.
EXPO ANDES is therefore very clearly aimed at professional decision-makers, distributors and institutions that will shape the future of tourism in Chile – and the rest of the world.

International congress
During the three-day trade fair there will also be an international congress. Representatives of major companies and the public sector will hold discussions here and speak about their personal experience, often accumulated over decades.
In addition, the provisions of the trade fair will be transmitted online for those who cannot attend in person. On the digital trade fair platform there will also be profiles of the exhibitors, so that anyone who is interested can find out more here.
Among the participants will be some of the biggest suppliers to the mountain tourism industry – including AXESS, TECHNOALPIN, DOPPLMAYR and POMA.
Expertise is therefore guaranteed and visitors can look forward to an exciting and rewarding event.
