First Câble C1 cabin unveiled

The first cable car in Île-de-France will complement the public transportation offering. Upon its launch, the cable car will directly connect the neighborhoods of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Limeil-Brévannes, and Valenton to various metro and bus lines.

The companies involved in the project’s implementation are DOPPELMAYR, Spie batignolles, Atelier Schall, and France Travaux.

The first urban cable car in the Greater Paris area will provide a new travel experience for the population. The 105 future cabins will be fully accessible and capable of carrying 10 passengers each. During peak hours, a cabin will arrive every 30 seconds.

The design of the Omega V cabins has been tailored to the needs of future passengers, allowing for easy transport of individuals with limited mobility, strollers, and bicycles.

The cabin interior features foldable seats, priority seating, handrails, real-time passenger information, and starry sky-like lighting. Cameras and an intercom system are provided for safety. The cabins will also have ventilation and tilting windows.

Approximately 11,000 passengers are expected to ride the cable car daily. To ensure seating for everyone even during peak hours, the cable car is designed with 30% more seats than the estimated peak demand.

Up to 25 additional cabins can be added to the route if passenger traffic increases.

The prototype presented now will undergo further developments before the production of the cabins begins. The first tests are scheduled to take place in the first half of 2025. This cable car will serve five stations along a 4.5 km route between Créteil and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.
