Cable Car plans for the city Lima

The city of Lima in Peru is to get two cable cars. The first steps have already been taken.

The head of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Lima (Peru), Raúl Pérez Reyes Espejo, announced the imminent construction of two cable cars in Lima, in addition to other road infrastructure projects, at the presentation of the four new stations of the Metropolitano (a bus rapid transport system).

One of the cable cars will connect the districts of San Juan de Lurigancho and Independencia, while another is planned for El Agustino.

The first steps taken in relation to the project were the signing of a contract with the company Lurigancho CA to carry out a feasibility study.

In 2021, all the necessary documentation was already available, but implementation was delayed due to administrative procedures with the urban transport authority for Lima and Callao.

Public transport to become more efficient and convenient

In addition to the cable cars, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Urban Transport Authority and the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima will make improvements to the infrastructure of the bus rapid transport system, including the modernisation of existing stops, which should improve the efficiency and comfort of the public transport system in the city.
