Construction work has begun on the first cable car in Paris
Throughout the entire summer, excavation works are being carried out on the site of the future station in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. This involves preparing the ground for the foundations of the pylons and stations.
Likewise, construction work is commencing on the Pointe du Lac station in Créteil. This marks the beginning of the implementation of one of the world’s most significant cable car projects.
As the construction takes place in the densely populated urban area of Paris, the cable car can leverage its advantages through minimal infrastructure requirements. The cable car is expected to be operational by 2025.

The first urban cable car in Paris will connect five barrier-free stations. The cable car, referred to as “Cable C1,” will link the suburbs of Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton, and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.
The 105 cabins can accommodate up to 11,000 passengers per day and operate every 22 to 27 seconds. The design, construction, and maintenance of Cable C1 are carried out by a consortium consisting of Doppelmayr France, Spie Batignolles, France Travaux, Egis Rail, and Atelier Schall, under the supervision of Île-de-France Mobilités.
The infrastructure is financed by the Greater Paris Region (49 percent), the Val de Marne Department (30 percent), and the French State (21 percent).
Transdev, in collaboration with Compagnie des Alpes, will once again work with Doppelmayr, as they have been doing since 2018 in Bogota, Colombia, operating the TransMiCable urban cable car.
