Sylt: This is how the journey could look in the future
Sylt
The beautiful location of the island attracts numerous tourists, but the arrival and departure is not yet ideally organized, so there are often long waiting times, especially during the vacation months. Also mayor of Westland, Nikolas Häckel has already commented on this issue. He sees an urgent need to reduce the number of cars on the small island and to introduce a powerful and green transport system. So that Sylt becomes a feel-good place again. The cable car project would fit in very well with this.
A ropeway project would cover the above points well. Whether such a project would also make sense in practice, however, remains to be seen. It is, however, remarkable for the ropeway transport system that the system is being discussed even in regions not associated with ropeways.
Kiel
The Rethmann company could also imagine crossing the Kiel Fjord with a ropeway. Seven possible route variants are currently under discussion. In the first step, the advantages and disadvantages of each individual location are examined in order to find the right route in the end. The route should be as gentle as possible on nature and people, but still have a high attractiveness as a transportation point.
However, those responsible are confident of finding a suitable point here, especially since the pressure of suffering in Kiel is already very high. Because of the Kiel Fjord, there is no direct route and commuters have to take detours here. Especially during rush hours, this leads to long traffic jams, which can take up to an hour. In comparison, the cable car could cover this distance in just a few minutes.
