As German South American online newspaper Wochenblatt reports, Paraguarí Governor Juan Carlos Baruja Fernández (ANR) is planning the construction of a cable car between the mountains Hũ (422 m) and Cristo Redentor (216 m), which are roughly three kilometres outside the regional capital. These locations are benchmarks for adventure tourism, hiking and abseiling.

Construction of the aforementioned cable car is a part of ecological and leisure park “Cerro Hũ”, an initiative strongly promoted by the regional Governor. “The ministry of defence has given the army’s artillery commando regiment the green light for the project and we have been able to sign a contract for the ecological and recreational park project, which specifies the construction of cable cars,” Governor Baruja reports on his Twitter account.

“A cable car will be constructed, which connects the summits of the mountains Hũ and Cristo Redentor. Also included is the installation of the approximately 15-metre-high image of Christ the Redeemer on the eponymous mountain and erection of a viewpoint with its respective illumination,” he addeds.

The attraction, which is expected to provide a significant boost to domestic tourism in Paraguarí, requires investment of 2.5 billion guaraníes.
A tarmacked access road around 2.5 kilometres long, parking for over 300 vehicles, sports facilities, a campsite and a playground will be constructed, whilst the access control will be provided by military personnel from the artillery commando regiment.
