Despite sanctions: Venezuela’s urban cable car reopens after repairs
Venezuela’s President, Nicolás Maduro, announced the reopening of the Trolcable urban cable car system in Mérida after its renovation. This was reported by the portal Últimas Noticias.
“We have gathered all the resources, and today I can tell the people of Mérida that I have fulfilled the promise I made 8 months ago,” said the President of the country during a television broadcast.
Maduro emphasized that despite the sanctions imposed by the United States, the government has been able to ensure the optimization of public services and the implementation of construction projects.
The work included the installation of the cable (one kilometer of wire was replaced), the replacement of the cabin straps, the main motor, and the installation of three emergency power systems.
Additionally, the design of the green spaces was improved. The system operates with clean energy, promoting a more sustainable quality of life for the residents.
Travel time: five minutes instead of one hour
According to the portal 360 Degrees, this reactivation will reduce the travel time between the center of Mérida and the Chama Valley from one hour to just five minutes, benefiting more than 18,000 residents.
