Indian city of Itanagar to introduce cable cars
Itanagar is the capital of the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and is situated at the foothills of the Himalayas. The city has approximately 60,000 residents and serves as a trade center for agricultural products from the surrounding areas.
The Arunachal Pradesh government is now planning to introduce a cable car system and ten electric buses in Itanagar to improve the urban transport infrastructure. Several Indian media outlets have reported this consistently.
According to reports, the Mayor of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), Tamme Phassang, stated in mid-August that discussions about the installation of the cable car system are in the final phase. He mentioned that the IMC is working with companies from Hyderabad and Gujarat to complete the project.
The planned cable car is expected to provide a scenic and efficient transport route that connects key areas of the city, including Lobi in Division 4, the Secretariat, the Ganga Market, Chimpu, and vice versa.
