Paris – BARRIER-FREE CONNECTION TO THE PARIS METRO NETWORK

The construction works for the Cable C1 continues to progress – the towers of the cable car are already positioned and preperations for the cable hoist have been made. For Île-de-France-Mobilités this is a cause for celebration, as the goal of creating a new connection for the city is being realised step by step.

The Câble C1 cable car from DOPPELMAYR is the answer to a long-standing mobility challenge in the south of Paris. It will expand the public transport network in the Île-de-France region and provide better access and connections to other departments.

The cable car will improve accessibility to the Paris metro network and relieve internal traffic in Créteil and the surrounding area. The 4.5-kilometre route comprises five stations that connect the city of Créteil with the municipalities of Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.

Thanks to improved accessibility and connections as well as an average journey time reduction of 18 minutes, the cable car will increase the attractiveness of public transport in the south of Paris, benefiting around 20,000 residents in future.

The cabins of the Câble C1 will depart one after the other in less than 30 seconds. The cable car will be integrated and connected directly into the Pointe du Lac station in Créteil.

This new multimodal axis will connect the town of Créteil and the municipalities of Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges to the Paris public transport network.

The installation of the towers for the Câble C1 is already
completed.

Mobiliy for all

Passengers travel in modern cabins with space for ten people per cabin. In addition to level access, the cabins offer a communication system for passenger information. Inside, there are also information screens and an intercom system for communicating with station staff and real-time video surveillance.

Depending on space requirements, the seats can be folded up, making it easy for passengers to board and alight independently and to take bicycles and pushchairs with them. The operating staff at the station also pay attention to the safety of passengers boarding and alighting and cater to passengers‘ wishes.

The design of the stations is also geared towards barrier-free and fast access to the cable car. In concrete terms, this means that the stations are optimally integrated into the existing infrastructure.

All passenger routes are designed to be level and barrierfree, and the boarding and alighting levels are step-free or levelled with the connected transport level.

The seats can be folded up for additional space.

Bicycle parking spaces in the stations promote micromobility with bicycles and scooters for last-mile journeys.

Environmentally friendly and space-saving

The stations and supports of the Câble C1 blend harmoniously into the urban fabric. Thanks to its small footprint, electric drive and intelligent station design, the Câble C1 fulfils all the requirements of modern and sustainable mobility.
