Sustainable, cost-effective and future-oriented transport solutions
In many areas, the pandemic has set off a turbo. Over these weeks, advances in digitalisation have gone further than previously in months or years. It is not yet foreseeable whether the altered situation will also be used profitably in transport; many people can now see the need to initiate new transport systems and capitalise on the global spirit of innovation. If you look at the climate goals of the Paris Agreement, the move towards car-free streets seems inevitable.
Indeed, CO2 pollution needs to be reduced by 90% by 2050.
We are still a long way from being weaned off the car as a matter of course, especially since this priority seems to be untouched by political decision-makers. Nonetheless, strategies for the problems should be discussed collectively at events and gatherings.
In Salzburg the focus is on issues concerning public transport, new challenges and of course also the resulting opportunities. These also increasingly concern smaller towns and surrounding areas that are currently suffering from the same transport problems and limited resources, such as space, finance and energy.
Every year, the International Transport Days in Salzburg (12.10.2020 – 14.10.2020) attract representatives from economics, politics, transport companies, consultancy firms, firms, NGOs and interest groups. This diverse audience keeps an eye on the successful stories of international cities, and leaves space for inspiring discussions with the speakers and businesses about implemented projects and simple ideas.
