New study by BPD on urban cable cars

The study announced at the cable car conference in Mannheim by the project and area developer BPD (Bouwfonds Immobilienentwicklung) has been published. Together with the Darmstadt University and the architectural firm UNStudio from Amsterdam, various questions have been explored.

For years now, the cable car project in the federal city of Bonn has been considered a pioneer in Germany. The ambitious project - the city is to be completely crossed by cable car - is now slowly picking up speed. There are still a few steps to go, but the project could be commissioned in 2028. The plan for the unique Tokaj (northern Hungary) project has been known for years, but the war intervened. Now the government has given the green light to proceed: a 2,300-meter-long cable car could be built and the Kopasz Hill (Bald Hill) TV tower could be renewed, reports Világgazdaság.

In India, urban ropeways are playing an increasingly important role in tackling traffic problems. With the Parvatmala Programme, a national ropeway development programme has existed since 2022. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently announced his intention to develop more than 250 projects with a ropeway length of over 1,200 km within five years.
